"Let your guard down for just a minute and the deer will make you pay."

Every Build comes with deer-pressure fencing speced for the actual yard, not a one-size catalog spec.

— What's included

What a Pittsburgh raised bed install actually includes.

These six aren't upsells. They're the standard in every Pittsburgh vegetable garden installation we quote. Because a garden isn't a box of dirt — it's a system that has to work in Zone 6b from April through October.

01

Cedar raised beds, 14" deep

Western Red Cedar, hand-joined on-site. Five-year workmanship warranty. No pine, no pressure-treated, no plastic.

02

60/30/10 soil, 14 inches deep

Screened topsoil, aged compost, vermiculite — 60/30/10, filled to 14 inches. Delivered and spread by the install crew, not dumped at the curb.

03

Drip irrigation on a timer

Pressure-regulated drip line, zone-split, on a battery timer. Runs at dawn, shuts off, repeats. You don't hand-water through a July vacation.

04

Josie-designed plant plan

Josie is our lead horticulturist. She designs every Build plant plan — varieties, spacing, quantities, sow dates — for your Zone 6b sun, soil, and what your household actually eats. Drawn in PRO Landscape+, signed off before the quote ships.

05

Deer fencing speced to the yard

8-foot deer fence, or 6-foot angled out 45° — sized to your yard's pressure. Treatment guidance from our PA-licensed pesticide applicator, on the rare yards that need it. Rabbit and groundhog skirts added where the yard calls for it.

06

First-season check-ins

Monthly check-ins from April plant-out through October harvest. Planting cadence, harvest cues, what's eating the basil in week three. Josie reviews every recommendation before it reaches you. Year one is not a solo run.

— How the quote works

We design and build to your budget.

The kitchen-contractor model, not a SaaS pricing page. One written quote with one number — scoped to your yard, your sun, your slope, what your household actually eats, and what you can spend. Larger projects (greenhouses, orchards, homesteads) quoted separately.

Final number depends on bed count, fencing pressure, and site work. No published ceiling — the bundled quote stretches to fit the yard, the budget, and what you actually want to grow.

The number you sign is the number you pay. No "starting-at" gotchas. No change-order creep. Quotes that overrun on the build side are on us, not you. The bundle is the bundle.

— Install FAQ

What everyone asks.

The six we get most. Still have one? Ask us directly →

When can Pittsburgh raised bed builders start, and how long does an install take?

Pittsburgh raised bed installs run mid-April through late September across Zone 6b (most of metro Pittsburgh on the 2023 USDA map; 6a at higher elevations). Most builds take two to three on-site days once materials are staged. From first consult to plants-in-ground is usually three to four weeks in-season. Off-season bookings (December–March) lock in an April slot before the spring rush.

If I book a Pittsburgh vegetable garden installation in winter, do I wait until spring?

The discovery call and yard visit happen on a dry winter day. The bundled quote goes out within a week or two of the visit. Once you sign, Josie designs over the cold months and cedar and soil get pre-ordered. The install lands the first dry week in April. Winter bookings get the head start on the spring rush.

Do raised bed builders in Pittsburgh handle HOA approvals?

GardenSoon hands you a full design packet — bed dimensions, materials, fencing specs, site plan — formatted for HOA submission. The build team doesn't attend board meetings, but most HOAs approve on the first read with the packet provided. Same packet works for historic-district reviews.

What about my existing landscaping during a garden installation?

The crew works around what you want to keep. If a bed needs to go where a shrub is now, that comes up on the walk-through and the call is yours. Nothing gets destructively removed without a yes. Trees, established perennials, and hardscape stay put unless you say otherwise.

After year one of a Pittsburgh raised bed install, do I hire GardenSoon again?

No. Once the first-season mentorship ends, you're running it. Optional seasonal refreshes — soil top-up, plant swap, irrigation tune-up — start at a few hundred dollars, but most clients handle year two on their own. The five-year workmanship warranty on beds, irrigation, and fencing carries forward.
