Your yard is a weapon against hunger.
A garden is a decision. We make it an easy one. In Pittsburgh, we Build it for you — cedar beds, 14-inch soil, drip irrigation, plants, plan, one bundled quote, one crew, one number. Anywhere else in the US, our horticulturist Designs the plan you install: any yard, any balcony, any kitchen windowsill. A portion of every paid Build helps fund a Second Garden for a household facing food insecurity. The GardenSoon Network is free, in all 50 states.

I started this because I couldn't keep watching yards do nothing.
Pittsburgh has the land, the water, the growing season, and the neighbors. What it doesn't have is a quiet way for people with space to feed people without. So we built one.
I want every yard in this city to do two jobs — feed the family who lives there and feed somebody nearby. That's it. That's the whole company.
We're small on purpose. Same horticulturist on every design — Josie signs off on every customer-facing recommendation before it ships. Same Build lead on every install — Jordan walks every Pittsburgh yard. Treatment recommendations come from our PA-licensed pesticide applicator. Specialist tradesmen come in for complex site work when the build calls for it. Everything goes through us — no unvetted subcontractors.
How does GardenSoon work?
Two paths. Pittsburgh: free 15-min discovery call with Jill, free yard visit with Jordan (Josie joins when design needs her), one bundled written quote, install. No tier picker, no separate design fee — design is part of the Build. Anywhere in the US: a $99 Strategy Session (45-min video walk-through, credits to Blueprint or Build), a $399 Blueprint (scaled layout for any space — yard, balcony, indoor, rooftop — plant list, 12-month calendar), or Grow at $99/mo for ongoing coaching. Josie reviews every customer-facing recommendation before it ships, regardless of who delivered the consult.
How much does a Pittsburgh vegetable garden installation cost?
We design and build to your budget. Most Pittsburgh Builds start around $5,000; the bundled written quote is custom-shaped to your yard, your priorities, and what you can spend. The Build is bundled — design, cedar beds, 14" of 60/30/10 soil, drip irrigation, starter plants, and first-season check-ins are all in one number. Larger projects (greenhouses, orchards, homesteads) get quoted separately. Every quote follows a free yard visit; nothing is priced from a webpage.
Do I need to be in Pittsburgh to hire GardenSoon?
No. The Build is Pittsburgh-only. Anywhere else in the US, you can buy a $99 Strategy Session, a $399 Blueprint, or $99/mo of Grow coaching — all delivered over video and email, for any space (yard, balcony, indoor hydroponic, rooftop, urban small-space). Josie signs off on every written recommendation. The GardenSoon Network is free in all 50 states; any garden, any skill level, any space counts.
What is a Second Garden?
A Second Garden is a free vegetable garden installation for a Pittsburgh household facing food insecurity. Same cedar, same 14" soil depth, same Josie-designed plant plan, same season of mentorship as any paid Build. A portion of every paid Build helps fund a Second Garden; sponsorships accelerate the program. Recipients are matched privately by Justin with our pantry partners — no public apply form.
Can I sponsor a Second Garden?
Yes. Email gardensoon@gardensoon.com — any amount, one-time or recurring. Suggested tiers: $50 funds plants and seeds, $250 funds a bed's cedar and soil, $1,000 funds the cedar build for a full Second Garden. Reply within two business days. Gifts to GardenSoon LLC are not currently tax-deductible; 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsorship is in progress.
When can a Pittsburgh raised bed builder start my install?
Pittsburgh raised bed installs run mid-April through late September in Zone 6b (most of metro Pittsburgh on the 2023 USDA map; 6a at higher elevations). From first call to plants-in-ground is usually three to four weeks in season. Design and Grow mentorship run year-round — winter Blueprint clients lock April install slots before the spring rush starts.
